When Henry DeTamble meets Clare Abshire in a Chicago library they both understand that he is a time traveller, but she she knows much more than this about him as he has not yet been to the times and places where they have met before. He falls in love with her, as she has already with him, but his continuing unavoidable absences time travelling – and then returning with increasing knowledge of their future – makes things ever more difficult for Clare.

Film Review

The basic theme is difficult (uncontrollable time-travelling)but not contemptible. However sci-fi themes need an internal logic and consistency if they are to be intelligible and to any extent convincing and this muddled film had none. The hero kept popping backwards and forwards without rhyme or reason and to no real purpose, sometimes reporting on or remembering what he had seen, sometimes not,and always naked for some reason (the clothes dropped in a pile as he left — presumably the atoms of his body could be transported through the dimension but not the atoms of his clothes!) The early scene where he at about age 35 appears from the future to comfort himself aged three after a road traffic accident is ridiculous and makes no sense. Why he doesn't recognise his future wife when she speaks to him in the library is inexplicable, bearing in mind he has often visited her from the future when she was a child. Then his final demise is totally unexplained. He disappears once more in…

I have fantasized and often dreamed about time travel and in fact have seen many a movie which portray the idea. This, is one of those few ones that i loved among all of them. The story is perfect and starts and ends perfectly. It has more than one points where the viewer is positioned in a situation which inspires feelings and at the same time intrigues the viewer. I am sure what i say here sounds rubbish to the tenth degree, but see this and you'll understand me.In fact, this story has a very pleasant way about it in that it starts happily and ends similarly even though a loss is pertained to in the end. Such nice visualization, such clarity of idea….. What a film. The scenes are superb, and the meadows shown look like paradise. Wonderful movie, must watch.

Everything we learned from Michael J. Fox is wrong! You don't need a DeLorean to travel through time – just a nice butt and the right genes.Forget that THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE has that unctuous "romantic" tag on its ear, like some rhinoceros lumbering through the predictable pabulum jungle; despite its whispery trailers with jangly poetry-slam guitars and pillow promises that couldn't possibly be kept, it is an entertaining, intriguing tale of a man who involuntarily travels back and forth in time, whose major problem is not, it would seem, holding down a job or keeping important appointments, but rather that it puts a crimp in his Nookie Schedule.Despite its title, it is about the Time Traveler, not his wife. We wonder how she fits in as the subject matter when all she does is be cute and get cuter.Eric Bana is Henry, whom we meet as a ten-year-old in the back of his mother's car just before they have a head-on collision. He disappears out of the car an…
